for Environmental Prediction National Center for Atmosphere
Research (NCEP/NCAR).
No
ver{\~a}o, foi encontrado o maior n{\'u}mero de VCAN e no
inverno o menor.
ABSTRACT It was done a study of
intraseasonal and interannual variability of the number and life
period of upper-tropospheric cyclonic vortex (UTCV) in South
Tropical region to the period from 1979 to 2006. The
identification of systems was obtained using the objective method
developed by Coutinho et al (2010), which has as input data of
reanalysis of National Centers for Environmental Prediction
National Center for Atmosphere Research (NCEP/NCAR). 886 UTCV were
identified with 75,3% that lasted from two to four days. The
number of UTCV decreased as the it live period increased. In
average in the summer was found the largest number of UTCV and the
lowest number in the winter. The annual average occurrence of UTCV
in the spring and fall was 6,3 and 6,5 respectively, while during
the summer formed 18 UTCV by year and during the winter 0,8 cases.
There was not register of occurrence of UTCV that lasted more than
                         eight days during the winter.",
