abstract = "The ocean and atmospheric circulation features associated with the
extreme rainfall events during the main rainy period
(November-December-January) in the south region of Northeast
(sNEB) are determined. Daily rainfall data, NCEP reanalysis, OLR
and SST data are used. These events happen in distinct phases of
the ENSO episodes. It is pointed out that the extreme rainfall
events are related to the SACZ displacement northward, low level
flow from Amazon to the sNEB, shift of the Bolivian High eastward
and shift of the low level south Atlantic anticyclone eastward
with weakness of the southeast trade winds over the Northeast
coast.",
