It has been recently installed at different locations spread over Latin America, in Brazil, Peru and Argentina. It consists of a network of seven Very Low Frequency (VLF) receivers with the main scientific objective of monitoring the solar activity on short (minutes to hours) and long (years) time scales. Other objectives include a better understanding of the spatial structure of the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly, the study of atmospheric phenomena and the search for genuine seismic-electromagnetic effects. After discussing the scientific goals, the details of the installation are presented as well as the first results recently obtained. %@mirrorrepository sid.inpe.br/mtc-m18@80/2008/03.17.15.17.24 %8 Apr. %N 1-4 %T The South America VLF NETwork (SAVNET) %@secondarytype PRE PI %K Subionospheric radio propagation - Very low frequencies - Space weather - Solar activity cycle - VLF wave propagation simulations. %@group %@group %@group DAS-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group %@group DAS-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAS-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@secondarykey INPE--PRE/ %@issn 0167-9295 %2 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m18@80/2009/07.20.19.33.34 %@affiliation Centro de Radioastronomia e Astrofisica Mackenzie, Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, Escola de Engenharia, São Paulo, Brazil %@affiliation Centro de Radioastronomia e Astrofisica Mackenzie, Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, Escola de Engenharia, São Paulo, Brazil %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %B Earth, Moon, and Planets %P 247-261 %4 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m18@80/2009/07.20.19.33 %D 2009 %V 104 %@doi 10.1007/s11038-008-9269-4 %A Raulin, Jean-Pierre, %A da, Pedro Correia de Matos, %A Hadano, Rubens, %A Saraiva, Antonio C.
