                         comparar 4 imagens de sat{\'e}lite atrav{\'e}s de t{\'e}cnicas 
                         de interpreta{\c{c}}{\~a}o visual para fins de 
                         identifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o de culturas. Os produtos usados (papel, 
                         escala 1:100.000) foram: SPOT PAN e SPOT XS Vertical (de 10/7/86) 
                         SPOT XS Lateral (de 15/7/86) e composi{\c{c}}{\~a}o colorida TM 
                         2/3/4 (de 2/8/86). O processamento fotogr{\'a}fico dos produtos 
                         foi controlado. A separabilidade entre culturas n{\~a}o mudou 
                         entre a primeira e a {\'u}ltima data de aquisi{\c{c}}{\~a}o 
                         (Batista et alii, 1986). Quatro int{\'e}rpretes experientes, sem 
                         conhecimento da verdade terrestre foram selecionados para 
                         identificar 100 talh{\~o}es de trigo, caf{\'e}, 
                         cana-de-a{\c{c}}{\'u}car e pastagem. Nenhuma dessas categorias 
                         era homog{\^e}nea em termos de variedade, espa{\c{c}}amento, 
                         data de plantio, porcentagem de cobertura do solo ... Uma 
                         verifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o de campo foi realizada em setembro durante 
                         o per{\'{\i}}odo de colheita do trigo. A partir das 16 matrizes 
                         de erros iniciais foi realizada uma matriz por produto depois da 
                         verifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o da homogeneidade do grupo de 
                         int{\'e}rpretes. A porcentagem de identifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o 
                         correta, a porcentagem de erro de inclus{\~a}o e a 
                         estat{\'{\i}}stica Kappa, foram calculadas para cada produto e 
                         cada categoria. Os resultados mostraram, no n{\'{\i}}vel de 
                         signific{\^a}ncia de 95% que: n{\~a}o houve diferen{\c{c}}a 
                         considerando as culturas juntas; houve diferen{\c{c}}as 
                         considerando as culturas individualmente; n{\~a}o houve efeito da 
                         visada lateral comparando {\^a}ngulos de incid{\^e}ncia de 5.3oL 
                         e 12.8oL. ABSTRACT: A comparison of crop identification using SPOT 
                         and Landsat TM data by visual interpretation was done. The 
                         objective of this paper was to compare 4 satellite images through 
                         visual interpretation techniques for crop identification purpures. 
                         The products used were the following paper prints (1:100.000 
                         scale): SPOT PAN and SPOT XS Vertical (aquisition date (10/07/86), 
                         SPOT XS Lateral (aquisition date 15/7/86) and TM color composite 
                         cc 2/3/4 (aquisition date 2/8/86). The photographic processing of 
                         the products was controlled. The separability among crops did not 
                         change between the first and the last aquisition dates (Batista et 
                         alii, 1986). 4 highly skilled interpreters, without knowledge of 
                         the ground truth were selected to identify 100 fields of wheat, 
                         coffee, sugarcane and pasture. None of these categories weres 
                         homogeneous in terms of variety, row spacing, planting date, % of 
                         soil cover, etc. A field check was realized in September during 
                         the wheat harvesting period. From the 16 error matrices initially 
                         produced, one table per product was made after verification of the 
                         homogencity of the interpreters. The porcentage of correct 
                         identification, the percentage of commission error and the Kappa 
                         statistic were calculated for each table and each class. The 
                         results showed that, at the 95% significance level: - no 
                         difference between the 4 products considering the 4 crops jointly; 
                         - in some cases, a difference btween the 4 products considering 
                         each category separately, - no off-nadir viewing effect comparing 
                         5.3oL and 12.8oL SPOT incidence angles.",
